This is your Morning Funk! Every weekday morning, this will be your place to find the top geek stories from around the internet. Today we have news from Battle Chasers, Unity, The Flash and much more!

CBR has a preview of Valiant Entertainment’s new ongoing, Wrath of the Eternal Warrior. Written by Robert Venditti, who is currently chronicling the Eternal Warrior’s adventures in Valiant’s Book of Death, and drawn by Raúl Allén, this will be the character’s third series since the publisher’s return and will follow up on story seeds planted during the Book of Death event. Valiant has had a nearly spotless track record recently, and this title does not look like it will be changing that.

In other Valiant news, ComicsAlliance has the exclusive report on the finale of the publisher’s flagship team book, Unity, which in a unique move will be a 48 page all-comedy special. For the series’ 25th and final issue, such comedic talent as legendary comic book artist Fred Hembeck, The Daily Show’s Elliot Kalan, and The Best Show’s Tom Scharpling will join Valiant regulars like Matt Kindt and James Asmus in an unprecedented romp through the Valiant Universe. These offerings from Valiant won’t be arriving in stores until November and December, respectively, so for more current work from the publisher, check back soon for my review on this week’s offering, Ninjak #7.

The Kickstarter campaign for the recently announced Battle Chasers: Nightwar is now live, and it has revealed tons of concept art and early footage from the game. Based on the infamously incomplete Image Comics series by Joe Madureira, this JRPG title promises oodles of dungeon-crawling and adventure in the classic turn-based fashion. It is currently planned for release for PC and Mac, but a console release is possible if stretch goals are met. This is certainly a possibility, as only a day in and the game has raised over 300 thousand of its 500 thousand dollar goal, with 31 days left in its campaign.

The Flash continues to ramp up promotion for its premier on October 6, and this time Barry Allen is bringing another Flash with him. In the new promo, we get our best look yet at the original Flash, Jay Garrick, who will be played by Teddy Sears, in addition to an appearance by Atom Smasher, played by former WWE star Adam Copeland. We’re still waiting on a full-length trailer for the second season, but it is expected to drop sometime this week. I’m reservedly optimistic that the show will learn from its season one mistakes and create something truly great, and utilizing the character’s extended family of speedsters is a great place to start. While The Flash can suffer from the same soap-opera pitfalls that plague Arrow, it generally makes up for it in charm and sheer imagination.

Returning to ComicsAlliance for our final story, they have all the details on the upcoming Batman Day promotion that DC Comics will be running on September 26. On the day, retailers will be giving away free copies of Batman: Endgame Special Edition, which will include the first part of the Endgame storyline, as well as a preview of DC’s upcoming weekly series Batman & Robin Eternal. According to CA, each of the long list of big-box stores participating will have an exclusive cover (like Amazon’s above) in addition to the standard version available through comic shops. DC promises lots of other Batman-related activities for the day, including signings all across the country with Bat-family writers and artists.
