This is your Morning Funk! Every weekday morning, this will be your place to find the top geek stories from around the internet. Today we have news from Harley Quinn, Rocket Raccoon,  American Horror Story and much more!

DC Comics announced in a press release yesterday that Harley Quinn will be receiving a second ongoing this December called Harley’s Little Black Book. The series will see Harley team up with various DC icons in stories written by the writing team of the main Harley Quinn title, Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, with the first issues art also by Conner. Harley Quinn has seen a surge of popularity in recent years and has a found a niche in the DC Universe akin to the one Deadpool fills at Marvel. DC even seems to be taking a move from the Deadpool playbook with this series, as he has had continued success with team-up titles as well. Whether that’s a good or bad thing is entirely a matter of taste, however, and if there’s one thing we can agree on, it’s that it’ll be great to see Amanda Conner drawing Wonder Woman again.

DC wasn’t the only one announcing buddy books yesterday, though. Not to be outdone, Marvel Comics will be launching a new Rocket Raccoon and Groot series in December by Skottie Young and Filipe Andrade. Young returns as the writer after an eleven issue run on the Rocket Raccoon solo series, where he also was the artist for a large portion of the series. Presumably due to his upcoming Image Comics series I Hate Fairyland, he will only be contributing covers for the new series for the forseeable future. As someone who currently has a wall of their apartment covered in Skottie Young posters, I am a bit disappointed he won’t be on interiors, but I’d definitely prefer to see him try new things at Image. Luckily, Young assures fans that everyone’s favorite Guardians are in good artistic hands. “I’ve been a fan of Filipe for so long, and he was one of the first names I brought up when I knew I’d be handing over the art chores. His figures have such interesting shapes and lines; they feel out of this world…he’s a perfect fit.” You can read more about the series at Marvel.com.

Like most of the brilliantly subversive marketing for the show, this new trailer for American Horror Story: Lady G–I mean–American Horror Story: Hotel doesn’t reveal anything about the storyline this season, and instead plays up the Gaga-glam and wonderfully self-aware horror tropes. I didn’t love Freakshow as much as I did previous seasons, though it had some great individual episodes, so I’m hoping this season is a bit more plot-driven and focused. Either way, I can’t wait to see what Ryan Murphy has in store for us when the first episode claws its way onto FX on October 7.

In our last story for the morning, we have our first look at Hawkman and Hawkgirl from CW’s upcoming Legends of Tomorrow, which just began production earlier this week. While they certainly don’t look as bad as Diggle, the leather look is beginning to get old quick in the DC-TV-verse. However, I’ll give Falk Hentschel and Ciara Renee a chance to impress me with the characters before writing them off. I will say that it was a strange decision to show them off for the first time without the thing the pair is most known for: their wings. Legends of Tomorrow is set to debut in early 2016.
